Early BirdLate Bird

The Early Bird Program

Early Bird is a voluntary extension of the school day available to all students. The Early Bird Program serves those parents/guardians who must drop off their child before school begins. Students are supervised in a designated area. The supervisor of the Early Bird Program monitors the safety of the students in the program; however, no organized program of instruction is presented. Students are required to follow all school disciplinary rules during this time. The school reserves the right to exclude students from the Early Bird Program for disruptive behavior or other misconduct. There is no fee for Early Bird and students can be dropped off as early as 7:00 AM.

Parents who fail to comply with traffic rules or school regulations approaching or entering/exiting our campus during Early Bird may lead to exclusion from the program.

Late Bird Program

Late Bird is a voluntary, fee-based extension of the school day for all students. It is available to all students and is scheduled Monday through Friday, 2:35 PM to 5:30 PM (regular school days). Late Bird does not operate during non-school days (i.e. Fall Break, Winter Break, Spring Break, Early Release days, and holidays).

Students must be pre-registered before attending the program.

Registration forms are available online or in the main school office.

Students are not permitted to leave campus and return to Late Bird under any circumstances. Late Bird students are supervised in classrooms designated for Late Bird. Students in Late Bird will be provided a quiet academic environment to complete homework and quietly socialize with friends in a structured, supervised environment.

Students can eat snacks and a drink brought from home at a designated time, keeping in mind that there is no refrigeration or microwave available. Students are not permitted to leave campus to purchase food and return to Late Bird.

Students are required to follow all school disciplinary rules during Late Bird. The school reserves the right to exclude students from the Late Bird Program for disruptive behavior or other misconduct.

Parents who fail to comply with traffic rules or school regulations approaching or entering/exiting our campus during Late Bird may lead to exclusion from the program (without refund).

All students attending the Late Bird Program between 2:35 PM and 5:30 PM are required to sign in with the Late Bird Program Supervisor.

At 4:00 PM, ALL students still waiting for pick-up from school will be escorted to the Late Bird Program. At this point the student is considered a "Drop-In" and the student's SMART account will be billed $20.00 per student per visit by the Operations Office.

Parent pick-up for Late Bird is from the Main Office between 2:35 - 5:30 PM utilizing the Pick Up Pass cards provided by the school. Operations will bill "Drop-In" and "Late Pick Up" fees based on either the time your child signs into Late Bird and/or the time stamp generated by scan/manual entry into the Pick Up Pass System.

STUDENTS ARE NOT PERMITTED TO USE CELL PHONES to send/receive phone calls or text messages during Late Bird. Students will have access to a landline phone should they need to contact their parents. Parents will be able to contact Late Bird through the main phone number (480) 276-8592.

Fees

All students attending the Late Bird Program between 4:00 PM and 5:30 PM are charged a Late Bird Fee regardless of the amount of time spent in the program or the reason for being there (e.g. sent to Late Bird because their ride is late to pick them up at dismissal, after clubs, or after Student Hours).

For students picked up after 5:30 pm, an additional fee of $30.00 is billed through SMART for Charters for each occurrence.

Extracurriculars, Student Hours

Students are permitted to wait in Late Bird to attend their Extracurricular Activity, or Student Hours, free of charge. However, students must be picked up no later than 10 minutes after their scheduled student hours or extracurricular activity ends. The Daily Drop In fee of $20.00 per student per visit will be charged at that time.

Siblings of students registered for extracurricular activities or Student Hours after 4:00 PM WILL BE CHARGED if they attend the Late Bird Program.

Non-Sufficient Funds (NSF)

There will be a fee of $25 applied to any payments that are returned for NSF by the bank.

Refund Policy

Late Bird payments will not be refunded under ANY circumstances. Payment for the Annual Fee option MUST be made at the beginning of the school year; these payments will not be prorated.

Fee Collections

  • All fees are collected through SMART for Charters; payments can be submitted directly to SMART For Charters using credit or debit cards, over the phone, or sending a check through the mail.
  • Families opting for monthly payment will be billed on the 10th of each month.
  • Payment is due, in full, by the 30th of each month (28th of February). Late payments will result in late fees added to accounts.
  • Accounts overdue 60 days or more will be reviewed and the student will be excluded from Late Bird, extracurricular and other fee paying activities.
  • Sibling discount only applies to ANNUAL fee schedule. NOTE: Any outstanding debt at the time of the student's withdrawal from the school will be recovered, by the school, from the student's Security Deposit.

In the event that the Security Deposit does not cover the full amount of any outstanding debt, the remaining amount owed will be given over to a collection agency. If a family is experiencing financial difficulty they are encouraged to contact the Head of Operations to discuss possible payment options.

To enroll in the Late Bird program, return completed registration forms by email to: [email protected] or directly to the front office.
